Baking, baking and more baking!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I've been helping my Mum raise money for our local Animal Sanctuary: http://www.humaneeducationsociety.co.uk/ We actually got our first cat Trixie (RIP) , and our current cat's Buttons and Tiger from there, so it's close to our hearts. We've been baking lots of biscuits, cakes, scones, cupcakes etc... to sell at numerous fundraising events. Today I made Chocolate & Peanut Butter cookies (very american! - but my favourite combination!), my Mum also made iced animal shaped Sugar Cookies, and Gingerbread Bears and I'm going to make some Oatmeal & Raisin cookies later. I LOVE baking and hopefully we'll raise a good amount of money for all of the animals!

Elle Orange Mavala Nails

This month of Elle (UK) had Kirsten Dunst on the cover, and it came with a free Mavala Nail polish. Elle and Mavala teamed up to create three 'Elle' colours; The Elle Grey, Red, and Orange; as you can see I got the orange.

You may have noticed my magazine cover is different to the ones you buy in shops, it's because I'm a subscriber so the front covers are part of a collectors edition. The only downside of being a subscriber is you never get to choose what your free gift is, although I'm really happy with what I got. I was hoping to get either the red or the orange!

(L to R: artifical light and natural (overcast) light.)

Mavala's Elle Orange is a creamy tangerine that is opaque in two coats. I definatly enjoyed using the mavala polish as it applied easily, even though it's a small bottle the brush was nice and long. The brush was also nice and soft so it fanned out nicely and made the application fast and easy.

Even though it's coming to the end of summer (cries!) I will still be wearing this colour often and will definatly try more as they've got some great colours. http://www.mavala.co.uk/

Did any of you purchase an Elle to get one of these colours?

Dream Cream

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Dream Cream is one of LUSH's best sellers, and was my first ever LUSH product. This little pot of hand and body cream got me hooked straight away!

Dream cream is a soothing body lotion for troubled skin, which means it's suitable for even the most sensitive skins and skin conditions. It contains Chamomile, Lavender and Oat Milk which reduce redness and banish dry skin and blotches.

I first bought this as a cream for my legs as they're the only part of my body that gets dry and irritated. The cream instantly soothed my itchy legs and it felt lovely and light, and absorbed very quickly. A small amount really does go along way, and the scent is incrediably relaxing! I use this cream at night, just because I don't want to be smelling of lavender during the day, and the scent definalty puts me in the mood for bed time!

LUSH are a homemade cosmetics comapany that use only organic fruit and vegetables and never test on animals - some of their products are also suitable for vegans. Pop into you local LUSH store and ask for a sample or buy a pot! http://www.lush.co.uk/

Essie's Mint Candy Apple is quite a famous colour as it's been compared to Chanel's Jade. However, I personally thin MCA is a much prettier colour. I'd say it's the sweet, little sister of Chanels's Jade. It's decribed as 'Creme de menthe mint' on the website, which is perfect as it reminds me of mint ice cream. The colour in the bottle is slightly paler than it looks on my nails, although sometimes in the natural light, they match.

Artificial light; the polish appears much brighter

natural light, polish is a much softer colour.

Face of the Day &...Big Beautiful Eyes!

I decided to combine a 'Face of the day' and a review of Benifts Big Beautiful Eyes Kit into one post. I really enjoy using this kit as it's quick and easy and pretty much fool proof when you're in a hurry. It keeps me looking polished and I don't have to work hard to make it look great. If you're looking for a kit/pallete that will give your a natural look and is easy to use, I'd definatly reccommend this. I'd also so this is great for begginers or if you're not too confident with eye make up.

and then apply the last shadow to your lash line to deepen the look. The concealer comes in the colour 002 Medium which is too dark for me, but can be lightened up with powder. The shadows are really sofft and pigmented and go on really nicely.

Scrub, Scrub, Scrub!

St Ives Deep Cleansing Apricot Body Scrub Review

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I had earlier mentioned this scrub in my July Favourites, and I'm definatly still very impressed with this scrub. St Ives came up with a new formula for this scrub to make it extra deep cleansing for those of us with oily and blemish prone skin. The areas I tend to suffer are my chest, shoulders and back. Although, from what I can remember (years ago!), this scrub doesn't differ too much from the original formula, it definatly seems to make a difference.

Instantly after using it, my skin is super soft and even glows, (which I'm pretty sure my skin has never done before.) Most importantly, after only a few uses, the spots on my chest, shoulders and back are almost all gone. I love this scrub for many reasons; it does what it promises to, it's really exfoliating but doesn't irritate my skin, and it's not oil based so doesn't leave a horrible residue on my skin.

If you're not oily or blemish prone, St Ives do their usual Invigorating Apricpot Body Scrub. You can pick up any St Ives product at Boots, Superdrug and any supermarket. Tesco have a Buy One Get One Free offer on at the moment.
